Atlanta – On the heels of the release of the ‘Military 24/7’ App for iPad, Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS) has launched the free application for iPhone and iPod users. Now, the latest U.S. Military news stories, images and video obtained exclusively from the frontlines can be accessed by millions of Apple consumers.
‘Military 24/7’ takes advantage of current technology and creates a whole new interaction with our military service members. No other application on the market combines top military news stories, photography from awarding winning military photojournalists, the latest videos, newscasts and programming reported directly from troops on the ground. Additionally, users can filter through thousands of products based on branch, location or interest (‘Military 24/7’ Demo Video). ‘Military 24/7’ is free to download and content is easily sharable via email, Facebook and Twitter.
“The communication environment is constantly changing and we are staying ahead of the curve,” said Major Scott Betts, director of operations. “Our website, and now application, contains an impressive quantity of content, including thousands of articles, images, video and audio products. That number increases daily as we ingest breaking and ongoing stories from deployed public affairs and combatant cameramen on the frontlines. The public and media want information fast and easily accessible. We are making that happen.”
“The around-the-clock window into the war zone provided by our iPad App is now available on the iPhone platform,” said Anthony Burian, director of technical operations. “The release of the iPad App generated a lot of excitement with supporters of our troops around the world. We expect this version to do even better since iPhones are ever-present. The app is easy to use and visually appealing.”
‘Military 24/7’ is now available for free download on the App Store. For more information and to view a demo of the DVIDS App, go to http://www.dvidshub.net/app.
