Wounded warriors find respite at this majestic golf resort
Newmarket-on-Fergus, IRE. — Dromoland Castle is pleased to be accommodating a number of wounded former U.S. servicemen and their families as part of their 11-day tour of golf courses throughout the Emerald Isle. Recovering from various injuries suffered in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, the soldiers’ sojourn was organized by Golf Digest Irish Tours, a joint venture company with Condé Nast, and Fàilte Ireland. Additional support from several other Irish tourism firms.
Receiving a warm welcome at Dromoland and elsewhere, the servicemen are thoroughly enjoying the fabulous golfing opportunities, as well as the luxurious hospitality at the resort. “It is our honour and our pleasure to welcome these brave and patriotic men within our castle walls and at award-winning Dromoland Castle Golf and Country Club whilst their families relax and enjoy our many other amenities.”
For many of these heroes, it is the first time they’ve had the opportunity to leave Shannon International Airport and actually experience Irish hospitality rather than transiting to another dangerous mission.
Emmy-winning TV personality and journalist Peter Kessler is making a documentary about the trip, together with Bobby Farrelly, the film director, screenwriter, and producer.
