All Marines are required to maintain their weight/body fat in accordance with Marine Corps standards. Marines who weigh more than allowed on the charts below must undergo a body-fat measurement. Those who are over the Marine Corps body-fat standards will be enrolled in the Marine Corps Body Composition Program.
Height measurement is taken by:
The Marine will stand with their back against the wall, heels flat on the deck, shoulders back, with arms to the side in a relaxed manner, and head straight forward. For use in height/weight tables, height measurement will be recorded to the nearest inch. If height fraction is less than ½ inch, round down to the nearest inch. If height fraction is ½ inch or more, round up.
Weight measurement is taken by:
Weight will be measured on a calibrated digital or balance beam scale in the required PT uniform, without running shoes. A one-pound reduction will be granted for the PT uniform; however, no other weight reductions are authorized. Measurement will be recorded to the nearest pound. If the weight fraction is 1/2 pound or less, round down to the nearest pound. If more than 1/2 pound, round up.

The minimum and maximum weight standards are general guidelines for the average Marine. Bodybuilders or heavier-built men and women may be over the maximum weight limit. In these cases, a body fat measurement is taken. Men must have less than 18 percent body fat and women must have less than 26 percent. These rates must be maintained.
