SEPTEMBER 2, 2022 – Military equipment is always advancing, and it’s fun to see what new products our military has in store. This list will give you an idea of some of the cool weapons that are being used right now.
The M110A1
The M110A1 is a lightweight, semi-automatic sniper rifle. It has been used by the US Army and Marine Corps since 2013. It’s a modified version of the M110 SASS (Semi-Automatic Sniper System), which was introduced in 2005 as the first production-line military sniper rifle to be chambered for 7.62mm NATO ammunition rather than .308 Winchester.
The new M110A1 is fitted with a Picatinny rail on top that allows it to accept optics such as night vision scopes like the MEPRO HYPER-BRIGHT handgun sights, bipods, and suppressors (although not all models can accommodate these attachments).
XM-25
The XM-25 is a grenade launcher currently in use by the United States Army. It fires 25 mm grenades that are programmed to explode on impact with a target or after traveling a certain distance. The launcher uses an optical sight and laser rangefinder to determine the distance of targets, then uses a digital fire control system to adjust its aim based on elevation, wind speed and direction, air density, temperature gradient, and relative humidity.
Its muzzle velocity sensor measures the speed at which each round leaves the barrel, while its muzzle velocity compensator counteracts any changes in direction due to crosswinds or other environmental conditions.
A soldier using this weapon can select one of five grenades depending on what type of enemy he wants to attack. Semi-active laser-guided (SAL), contact fuzed/point detonating (CFP), point detonating/impact activated smoke screen (PDI), multipurpose anti-armor mine (MAP), or illumination round (ILLUM) are a few options.
The SAL rounds have an infrared sensor that allows them to follow their target through walls. If they miss their mark, they’ll self-destruct before hitting anything else nearby. This is thanks to an electronic self-destruct mechanism built into them by engineers at Picatinny Arsenal.
Barrett M107A1
The Barrett M107A1 is a semi-automatic sniper rifle that is used by the US military and other armed forces around the world. It has been in service for over 25 years but was most recently redesigned in 2016. The Barrett M107A1 has a range of up to 1,800 meters, which makes it one of the most powerful rifles on this list. It fires .50 caliber rounds at speeds of 2,250 feet per second (fps). These features make it ideal for long-range shooting situations where accuracy is crucial to success, for example, during combat operations or while hunting large wild animals like elephants and rhinos.
M4A1
The M4A1 carbine is a lightweight, gas-operated, magazine-fed, air-cooled, shoulder-fired weapon. The M4A1 provides the individual soldier with the ability to engage targets at extended ranges and do so with a high volume of accurate fire.
The M4A1 is currently in use by all branches of the US Armed Forces and multiple allied nations around the world. These include Australia, Canada, and Great Britain.
This weapon has been used primarily in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001 as a result of its lightweight (about 7 lbs.), maneuverability, and accuracy. It was first introduced in 1994 to replace the Colt M16A2 rifle, which weighed approximately 9 lbs.
Sig Sauer P320
The Sig Sauer P320 is the first modular handgun to be accepted by the United States Military. It has three different configurations that can be switched quickly and easily with a simple change of parts. The first configuration is a full-sized service pistol for military use. The second configuration reduces the gun to about half size and also reduces weight, making it easier for special operations forces or covert agents to conceal their weapons when necessary. The third configuration uses an extension sleeve around the barrel and a slide that allows it to be fired while underwater up to 10 feet deep.
This gun was designed with input from some of our nation’s top shooters and engineers who have been working together since 2014 on finding ways that would make firearms more effective in combat situations across all branches of our armed services. They are doing this for other areas as well where firearms are used frequently, such as law enforcement agencies.
MK-19 Grenade Launcher
The MK-19 Grenade Launcher is a 40mm grenade launcher used by the United States military. It is a fully automated belt-fed weapon that launches 40mm grenades. The MK 19 can fire up to 50 rounds per minute and has a maximum effective range of 800 meters. The MK 19 is a single-shot gas gun.
Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV)
The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) is a new military vehicle that will replace the Humvee. The JLTV is a lighter and faster vehicle than the Humvee and can be configured as an armored personnel carrier or reconnaissance vehicle.
The JLTV has been around since 2011, but it’s still in development by Lockheed Martin, Oshkosh Truck, and other companies. The first production model of this new military product was unveiled on September 15th, 2018, at an event hosted by General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS). The first vehicles were delivered to the US Army in October 2018.
Stryker Armored Fight Vehicle (AFV)
The Stryker AFV is a light armored vehicle that can house a crew of three. It is equipped with a 30mm cannon, which fires high explosive and armor-piercing ammunition.
The vehicle’s primary armament consists of an externally mounted M230LF chain gun and two General Dynamics MK19 Mod 3 grenade launchers mounted on the roof of the turret. The secondary armament includes two 7.62mm machine guns (one on each side), one 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, and one 12.7mm heavy anti-aircraft machine gun. These are at the commander’s position, providing 360-degree coverage for self-defense or close air support missions in urban combat areas or anti-armor missions against enemy light armored vehicles such as APCs/IFVs and tanks.
Apache Attack Helicopter
The Apache is a twin-engine attack helicopter used by the US Army and other countries around the world. The Apache can be armed with a 30mm cannon, 70mm rockets, Hellfire missiles, and Hydra 70 rockets that are capable of destroying tanks with amazing accuracy.
Apaches have been used in combat since 1984, when they were first deployed in Operation Desert Storm. The Apache has also been used to fight against insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).
The military has been around for thousands of years. And it’s no secret that there are plenty of cool weapons out there. The purpose of this blog post was to introduce you to some new products being invented by the US military today so that you can get an idea of what they have planned for the future. We hope this list has helped clarify some details about these products!
