The United Service Organizations (USO) has a program to send care packages to the troops. Operation USO Care Package was created to support the troops involved in Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom Operation.
The USO is a rock solid ethical organization that has been vetted (the USO has been serving the troops for 67 years, it was formed during WWII) so that you know your donation will not be lost to fraud, waste, or mismanagement. There are over 120 USO centers around the world.
So how can I donate to Operation USO Care Package?
USO Care Package donations can be made online by clicking here.
This program leverages a $25 dollar donation into $75 worth of items.
So what is in a care package?
The USO will pack items like pre-paid international phone cards, magazines, cards and travel sized toiletries in a personalized care package for troops that are deployed around the world. In addition the USO allows you to include a message of support and appreciation.
How do the packages get to the troops?
The items are purchased by the USO. The USO and the Department of Defense distributes the packages. Since 9/11 more than one million Care Packages have been distributed.
Will the troops really like the care package?
This is a great way to give the troops tangible support and lift their spirits. They will know people back home are thinking about them, respect their sacrifice and appreciate the tough job they are doing. The idea that a care package can raise morale is time tested. Things most civilians take for granted are prized on deployment. This program provides a link between those that protect the country with the civilian population
